Even simpler than hoping for a Congratz when clicking other users' adopts is a Guaranteed Click Promo. After a certain amount of clicks you will receive this Promo. No redemption code needed, it will just get added to your first box.

Monthly Eggs
Once in a while, strange eggs appear in the Adoption Center. They are available for a limited time only and there is a maximum number that you can adopt, and you have to wait for a while before you can adopt the next one... but it’s certainly worth levelling them, as a higher level increases the chance for the adopt inside to be a shiny.

Trading Promos
Some do it for their collections, some just because they want to fill their Pokédex. Others have hatched a shiny that another user wants and vice versa. And since trading is a huge part of the game, there are Promos that encourage trading more often, and which might appear in your first box after making a successful trade.

Expedition Special Adopts
Expeditions are another way to get Special Adopts that you won't find anywhere else. And while there might be new or Special Event Biomes in the future, the Special Adopts from the main nine biomes are meant to be collectible and not limited by time, so they won't suddenly become unavailable. That being said, I won't be listing all the Special Adopts that can be found here, because there would be no fun in knowing which adopt you can get from which biome just by reading some boring guide. Get out of there and explore for yourself! Share your finds with others, and create your own Expedition Guide!
Misc Promos
Sometimes we decide that it's more fun to make Promos where you have to figure out on your own of how to get them. Most of the time there will be hints in stories or from Staff members, and it's very likely that there are other users who will have figured it out already. So if you have no idea how to get one of these Promos, maybe ask a friendly user who can help you.
