Professor, I think these are difficult to learn for foreigner. I speak English, German and French. And I understand a little bit Polish and Finnish.

I speak English, of course, and German, although I'm not exactly fluent, I can pick up some things. I would know how to order some chips in German. I used to know French quite well, but I didn't do it at GCSE because I did German instead. I found German easier than French.

I think us British need to be taught language earlier in schools. If you go to Germany then chances are if you speak to someone, they will know English and be fairly fluent in it. If someone who only speaks German comes to England, though, you can't really count on finding a German speaker. If I was taught German in primary school (which I wasn't - even French was optional until about Year 5,) then maybe I would be more fluent.
Spoiler for Venom Notices:
If I'm not that active, blame exams and stuff.

Lucy Hawk, Thx =3

Venom, I started learning English in 4th grade and I loved it. So I discover
my love for languages. French because my grandparents live near Paris, but I'm not that good. It could be better. xD
My darling speaks Finnish, so I learned some simple words and Polish because I lived or a long time next in the border area to Poland. I would learn more, maybe japanese, but its hard I think. :3

And so you can order chips in German: "Ich möchte bitte Pommes haben!" or more youthful: "Ich hätte gern paar Fritten!"

@Lucy Hawk Thanks!
@Rivaille what does "Ich möchte bitte Pommes haben!" and "Ich hätte gern paar Fritten!" mean? I don't speak German.

I'm primarily an English speaker, but we all have to do at least a short-course with exams for Welsh in our school, so I know the basic things.
